Northern California folks may be interested in the Vision Forum this Saturday (May 13) entitled The Bay Area Home. This is one of three upcoming forums sponsored by the environmental group Urban Ecology as part of their 'Blueprint for a Sustainable Bay Area' project. This Saturday's forum focuses on the form, scale and siting of sustainable dwellings as well as issues relating to building materials, energy and water use, waste disposal, food sources and affordability. Speakers include David Arkin of Ecological Design Institute (who works with noted eco designer Sym Van der Ryn), affordable housing architect Michael Pyatok, Berkeley in-fill developer Patric k Kennedy and ... ME (somebody else canceled out, I guess). Anyway, it's 9 am to 4 pm at the Center for Urban Family Life, 685 14th St. (easily accessible from 12th St. BART station). RSVP to Urban Ecology, 510-251-6332. Cost: free (bring a lunch). Don Lindemann cohomag [at] aol.com
