Shava According to one of the historical housing books I read yesterday---the roofed over porch was used extensively in the ancient Greek societies. The writers said that the height of the roof above the porch was so high that it couldn't shelter people standing on the porch from the sun or adverse weather. Apparantly, the covered porch was a spiritual space, where one is expected to pause, before entering the building. Harry - via BulkRate 2.0
