RE pre-constructed building parts: In a book called _How Buildings Learn: What Happens After They're Built_, Stewart Brand makes an excellent case for making sure that buildings can adapt. Anything that can't be built on the site is likely to be hard to repair or modify on the site. This is a red flag for "factory built housing" and "preconstructed ...". It doesn't mean some of those things won't be useful, but a degree of skepticism is warranted. Joel Woodhull Sebastopol, CA
