To continue this discussion of alternatives, I read of a Texas company, Stramit USA (P.O. Box 885, Perryton, TX 79070; call Pam Lewis at 806/435-9303) who manufactures a compressed straw panel for interior partitions. Enviropanels are 2-1/4 inch thick with paper facing similiar to drywall. They come in 4 feet wide and 8 to 12 foot lengths in 6 inch increments. An 8 foot panel weighs 140 pounds. Stramit supplies the assembling hardware. There are also makers of exterior wheat straw panels out there as an alternative to foam core. Michael, Jewell Hill Cohousing, Sebastopol CA
