Someone asked about experience with being a foster parent in cohousing, and
Joanie responded that cohousing might be too weird for the powers that be to
allow children to be placed there. At Pioneer Valley we have several foster
children, two of whom (sisters) were placed with a lesbian couple. Actually
they are part of a good story--two more sisters from the same family were
placed with a family across the street, associate members of the community.
So, in the Pioneer valley area, at least, being in cohousing is not a drawback
for getting a foster child.
