Plastics producers can create corn-based products, based on the assumption that the packaging will go into the compost heap? Would it be ethical to allocate fertile land to the production of plastics and later fuel? Plastics producers can choose packaging with high sensitivity to uv rays. Are we going to put our rubbish out to dry & decompose in the sun? Plastics producers can choose standard polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene, but that assumes that the city council has a recycling system in place. It assumes that consumers are willing to sort or pay for staff to sort for them. Do cohousing communities lend themselves to greater degree of rubbish sorting? Hans www.vicnet.net.au/~cohouse
