You might want to look into purchasing dock carts -  the carts that marinas
have to help boaters schlep their stuff from car to boat. They are sturdy
and very useful, although probably expensive. You might even be able to buy
them used from the nicer marinas that buy new every year or two. I'm sure
you have a boater or two among your group.

www.westmarine.com sells two difference styles, but they are not as sturdy
as the ones I've seen in marinas.
