In order to unsubscribe from COHOUSING-L:

Send an email plain text message (MS Outlook users, see
the Tools / Options / Sending menu
then check Plain Text (rather than Html encoding)
then check "apply". Messages to the list should also be plain text
with no attachments.) to listproc [at] cohousing.org (where all
commands are sent) from the account that is subscribed to the list
with the following one line command in the message body (no subject):

UNSUBSCRIBE COHOUSING-L

Note that your name is not required (or allowed) after the list name.

If this fails after getting the syntax right, send a message to
fholson [at] cohousing.org for assistance from the list manager

ALTERNATIVES TO JUST UNSUBSCRIBING

If your reason for unsubscribing is information overload (the most
frequent reason...) you may wish to consider one of strategies
other than just dropping your subscription discussed below --
Digest mode or reading archives periodically.

***** DIGEST MODE *****

Use the command:
SET COHOUSING-L MAIL DIGEST
When users set their mail mode to "digest", they will receive
postings from the list only once a day, bundled as one message. This is
great for people who are annoyed by a lot of messages or who only check
there mail once a day.

CAUTION When replying to a message in a 'digest', please manually
enter the appropriate Subject/Thread -- otherwise your reply will have
the subject: "RE: COHOUSING-L digest ##" which isn't very helpful.

***** ARCHIVES *****

An alternate way to read or browse the COHOUSING-L messages is via the
archives -- current and archived. The archive is updated
automatically and therefore always up-to-date. The archives are
accessed thru our web site at www.cohousing.org (resources) or directly at
http://csf.Colorado.EDU/cohousing/

Reading the archives does not require one to be a subscriber
but posting messages does require one to be a subscriber. There is
"postpone mode" which allows one to be a subscriber and post but not
receive messages by mail. Command to set postpone mode:
SET COHOUSING-L MAIL POSTPONE
