I recommend reading "The Ethical Slut" for more of a sense of where
polyamory as an idea is these days.
As people tend to discover very quickly, if you sleep around with no regard for other people's feelings, very bad things tend to happen. You either learn the hard way that honesty and consideration are imperative...or you wind up alone.
In some ways, polys should make ideal cohousing residents. For someone who can maintain a three-way or four-way relationship for years and keep everyone happy, negotiating the less emotionally intense negotiations that go into creating a cohousing community should be a snap.
