One way to breakdown budget is by level of detail. Some people want levels
of detail down to the penny, others find such level suffocating. Our
community does things in big blocks. The operating costs are one chunk, the
teams are another, projects now just go into a big chunk that anybody with a
project can draw from as part of a proposal. This takes us about 20 minutes
total to pass each year. The operating budget has not had much comment in
the past couple of years, the team budgets sometimes get a bit of
adjustment, and capital projects come up when they do over the year based on
energy to do them as proposals.

Hi folks,

I am doing some work with a community regarding their budget process. I
searched the archives of this list and was surprised not to find
descriptions
of how other communities do it, with the exception of the budget party idea
from Rob S. If anyone else out there can post info on who does which work,
how much is done by a treasurer, a finance committee, regular members,
and/or
in whole group meetings, how long the whole process takes and what the steps
are, that would be great. Thanks,
