>From how you introduced yourself I made an assumption that you do not have land or a development project yet. If that is not the case, ignore the words below. It is unclear to me why in the world, at your stage of existance, you are messing with rental policies? This seems like really not a good use of your group time. If you spend a bunch of energy in "might be" type discussions, you have great potential to lose members over things which may never pass. So until you are well into creating your unit designs I don't see why you should be talking about policies of any kind, unless your goal is to narrow the field of potential neighbors. So for example, if you don't want any rentals, then a policy at this stage makes sense, but if its OK, then you are better off NOT going into details until something like your final group is in place, and this will not happen until Mortgages are approved, which is almost when the building is done. We are in the forming stage, and are 12 households strong. We will have 48 households on 5.1 acres. We are in the process of formulating a rental policy, and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share theirs. I don't know if any communities have their rental policies posted on their web sites. Some questions to consider: 1. Do renters pay association fees? 2. Must renters agree to attend meetings and participate in community? 3. Does your community allow cohousing swaps: for example, someone living in Australia exchanges their unit with a unit in Tucson for a period of three months? Etc. Thanks for your assistance.
