It's of course the case, as Rob points out, that caring about community is
a defining feature of cohousing. (ie: a "necessary" requirement).  
This, however, doesn't mean that it's the ONLY requirement.
And it certainly doesn't mean that people can't deeply care
about other issues (such as environment, or what have you),
or that caring about other things doesn't make sense.
