>From a different perspective:  in order to answer a question from the town
planning board about the impact our proposed project would have on the
surrounding community, a cohousing group I had been involved with did a
survey of existing communities and found the surprising result that almost
all that responded had a 2:1 ratio of adults to children (for example, 36
adults and 18 children).  The accuracy of that ratio across different
communities was startling.

At the time, our group had 10 adults and 5 children.  :-)
