Our parents committee asked me to get some feedback on this -- What experiences have other communities had with neighborhood kids using the community's play areas or equipment? What did you do that you feel resulted in good experiences? How were bad experiences dealt with? What are issues we should think about? One side of our property fronts on a street that until now was a dead-end with our community and one other house. It has been connected to another previously dead-end street, and about twenty-five homes (3 & 4BR) are going in on the vacant land across from us. So we're expecting a lot more contact with neighbor kids than we've had. The parents committee would like to be proactive about setting some policies -- we want to be welcoming, but not abused, and not to set ourselves up for liability or other problems. We're discussing inviting the new families over for a common meal or barbecue, to meet them and explain the community in a friendly way. So hopefully we will be acquainted with the neighbor kids' parents.
