It sounds to me like you are doing a unamious vote rather than consensus.
Remember, consent means I give permission, not, I agree. Thus trying to
accomodate a diverse group to get unanimous agreement is really hard. In my
experience, a major requirement of a successful consensus participant is
humility. If this is cultivated and explored, it might make your process
easier. It is often important and in the groups best interest to move ahead,
if only to learn things. It is ok if things go slightly wrong, that is where
you learn. One approach is to put a sunset clause on a decision, try it
out, see what you learn, then adjust it based on your experiences rather
than anticipated or projected fears, which often never materialize.
