Hi all - I glimpsed a group, Blue Heron in Pittsboro, NC, that grew out of an extended group of friends that met together every Friday night for a long time before a significant portion of the group decided to get land and found a community. My dad and step-mom were part of the original discussion group (but not Blue Heron), and some of the Friday night meetings were at my dad's house, so I sat and listened sometimes. The group started with strong Scott Peck principles - I'm not sure what they've evolved into. That's where I first heard of cohousing - years before I got involved with Eno Commons. So, if you want more information about how a group successfully navigated from discussing community to being an intentional community with mortgages and all, you might try contacting Blue Heron. They have a web site, and it may still be linked on the cohousing.org page. -Jessie Handforth Kome Eastern Village Cohousing Silver Spring, Maryland
