Hi Diane,

I have a question for all of you out there in coho-land. Is the message below appropriate for cohousing-l? I and some others are supposed to be helping Fred monitor the list while he's away. Here's the reason I am asking:

As you can see, peace and justice activities are right up there under education as the top cohousing-related priority in our group. Does that indicate that more peace-and-justice activities should be announced on this list? How many of you out there are involved in peace-and-justice activities? How do you feel about these news items going out on coho-L?

It's nice of you to even consider whether that message should be posted, to me that shows how tolerant you are! Personally i think that message was obviously across the line into inappropriateness for this list. It was: (1) a mass sending, (2) regarding an event in a particular geographic location, (3) that had nothing to do with cohousing. I believe that allowing postings of that type would substantially reduce the value of this list and a bunch of subscribers would drop out.

I say that as a pacifist and activist myself who very much supports those causes, and would be fascinated to read postings on how cohousing as a lifestyle choice links with peace & justice issues. For me the choice to live in community is a direct expression of my values and i assume that is true for many others as well.

Cheers,

--Tree
