Funny you should mention toy storage.  When I took the bay area
co-housing tour, that was one of my takeaways.  Muir Commons had one of
those little tuff-sheds outside their common house just for kid outdoor
toys, which I thought was a great idea.  It's hard to tell the community
kids to put their toys away if there is no easy place to put them.
Conversely, things are more likely to get put away without prompting if
there is storage near where they get used.  This is certainly true of me
and my toys ;-)
