Hi Becky, and others in coho-land
I thought the policy was judicious, carefully thought-out, and a fairly good compromise between the needs of two different kinds of beings. I'm sorry I didn't take the time to write in about it at first--I think that's that natural tendency of people who are ok with something. They don't see the need to improve on something so they don't write in about it.

The only thing I saw that I didn't think made very much sense was #7, regulated dog breeds. One of our members has a pitbull and she is the sweetest pet in the place.

Our pet policy was very simple but we found a need to amend it less than a year after moving in because of issues we hadn't considered. Our policy says pets are not allowed in the common house (due to the allergies problem raised earlier) but after move-in we realized that disabled pet owners would not be able to walk up or down the stairs with their pets. So we had to modify the policy and allow pets in the common house for the proscribed purpose of going up and down on the elevator.

I don't think you should get too upset about the negative reactions because there are probably a lot more people like myself out there who thought your policy was ok but didn't take the time to respond about it. Perhaps over time you will find it makes sense to modify your policy as we did ours.

Best of luck in the future!

I have been struck by the overwhelmingly negative reception that the recently posted pet policy has gotten. Mostly I've thought, whew, see if I ever let any of my community's policies get posted here...
