As an architect and long time lurker and hopefully future cohouser I
recommend that the GC have the prime coat done. The reason for this is
that the wall finish work (usually gypsum drywall) may not be up to
snuff. One would not necessarily see this until after the prime coat has
been done. Some refinishing (skim-coating selected areas with additional
drywall compound or adding compound at seams that may not have been
visible prior to priming) is often done at this stage.
