Congratulations are in order! The "Comp Permit" is approved without appeals.

More than two years after finding a site for them, we are pleased to announce that Mosaic Commons and Camelot Cohousing have today achieved the final approval of their comprehensive permit for two, 34 unit cohousing neighborhoods in the town of Berlin, 30 miles west of Boston. The appeal period has expired with no appeals for what has been called the Sawyer Hill project. It is time to complete design development and get these two neighborhoods under construction, hopefully sometime this summer. With any luck, construction will be nearly complete in time for the local area cohousing community tours during the 2008 CohoUS conference in Boston.

For more information about each neighborhood, see:

A total of 17 affordable housing units of various sizes will become available in the project. A lottery will be held later this year, or early next. Contact either group to get on a list if you think you might qualify under the local affordable housing guidelines.
