Folks,
I agree with James. The storage required for the added bits is trivial, while the loss of coherence is more significant.

The desirability of brevity notwithstanding, I read every message that comes through (not digest mode) and personally I'm having trouble piecing together the threads of conversations since we've de- tailed. It used to be quite clear and interesting reading the days postings and following the threads to their conclusions. (answers first, followed by the threaded messages in chronological order) Now the messages seem disjointed and haphazard, not clear who is answering what, bits & pieces of information and opinions, some answers at the beginning, some at the end, some interspersed between paragraphs, -in those especially its not clear who is the originator & who is the responder.
Anyone else having the same problem?
I don't want to upset the de-tailed applecart,, but....
James

Perhaps we could have posted at the top of every Digest the earlier-

 of our personal messages).
