I forgot to say that the older kids participate in workday, often with one adult who organizes them to work together at a task like raking leaves or weeding. But younger children love helping sweep or running errands. Six year olds love it, but only last an hour or two.
Usually the older children do a half day with an organized activity after lunch, like another adult accompanying them to a movie or the zoo so their parents can continue working.
