Hello all --I want to tell you about a very special workshop being offered at the upcoming regional cohousing conference here in the DC area on March 20th -- it's on conducting and managing a reserve study.
Right about now most of you have nodded off. That's ok ... go to the next email. The 800lb gorilla will still be there tomorrow morning... :-)
BUT if you've been on a Board in a community that has been through a cash call to make a major repair, struggles with knowing how much funding your reserves should have, don't know what reserves should cover, has never conducted a reserve study to assess the reserve levels, have never even heard of reserves ... O Boy ... is this a workshop for you. One of the biggest problems HOAs, condos and coops have is the underfunding and mismanagement of reserves.
AND ... this workshop is special in many ways. It's special because it's rare -- I've never seen it presented at any cohousing workshop in the past.
Second ... it's priceless because it's being conducted by Sharon Villines.
Those of you who know Sharon from this list know she is a person of many talents. And she has become an expert in reserve studies. And she is an EXCELLENT teacher. And she doesn't travel much so getting her to conferences outside of DC is not easy. Luckily this conference is right here. Voila -- we have Sharon for this important topic.
This workshop will be useful to those planning new communities as well as those maintaining older facilities. Learn how a study will help you during planning and construction, and how you can use it to manage your facilities.
The workshop is limited to 15 people. You must indicate you want to take this workshop when you register. There's also a materials fee of $10.00 per person to be paid directly to Sharon at the workshop. Check or cash. She will be providing handouts that include a sample reserve study and a reserve study worksheet.
You can find out more about the conference and register at: http://www.MidAtlanticCohousing.orgA reminder that there's a Special Early Bird discount for the first 30 registrants. After that the price increases. This is the lowest amount you can pay so register NOW.
See you at the conference! Best -- Ann Zabaldo Takoma Village Cohousing Washington, DC Principal, Cohousing Collaborative, LLC Falls Church VA 703 663 3911
