Hi Coho-L folks and friends,For years people on this list and elsewhere have talked about having a library of sample cohousing policies available for communities writing or revising their own. Various efforts have been considered or started, but none seen through--until now!
As an outgrowth of the intensive facilitation training series i have been teaching for a set of communities in the wider Vancouver, BC area, Daniel Lindenberger of WindSong Cohousing in Langley, BC has set up a policy archive that anyone can access and add to. Yea Daniel! Leave it to those Canadians to accomplish what we in the States have never been able to manage. ;-) There are already 78 policies in the library, predominantly from WindSong but with contributions from half a dozen other communities as well.
Can your community be next? Daniel tells me he is "more than happy" to either add your policies himself if you send them directly to him at <daniel [at] smallboxcms.com> or to issue you your own username and password so you can directly post policies to your heart's content. It would be wonderful to get a wide set posted--this is the kind of basic infrastructure that everyone benefits from and now that the architecture is there it's easy to expand it to everyone's benefit. The library is not just limited to cohousing, there are already a few items posted from non-cohousing communities too. See for yourself at:
