I totally appreciate everyone who has taken the time to answer my question
about the number of people living in cohousing.

It seems as if this would be something we would track ongoingly. BUT … as has
been pointed out … it’s not an easy number to ascertain.

The problem w/ percentages in talking to policy makers is … it doesn’t indicate
a percentage of WHAT? Saying that 95% of clients renew their contracts each
year only means something if you know whether that is 5 or 5,000 clients.

Happily, Angela Sanguinetti extrapolated numbers for me last night. This is
data based on the 2012 survey by the Cohousing Research Network. She
extrapolated numbers based on that data.

2.5 persons (including 1.5 children) average household size

7,135 persons living in cohousing in the summer of 2012

2,925 people were 60+

2, 783 were single.

Again — thank you to everyone! This information is critical.

Best --
