Hi Mariana, The house was originally a brick cape, built in 1840. Since then it was converted to a large summer house with many bedrooms. My late husband was in the process of remodeling it in the late 1980s when a fire broke out and burned through the second floor of the house. The whole second floor was new in 1989. The remainder of the house has been completely remodeled. Only the rubble stone basement dates back to 1840. My late husband raised his 2 children here and then when we married, in 1994, we raised two of mine. This IS a home for a large family or a great Common house. Strafford is a wonderful community to live in. Thank you for your interest, Do you have other questions that I can help with? best, Marie best, Marie "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!
