BTW my favorite shortener these days is http://s.coop/ But rather than retyping them one can usually copy/paste the multiple lines into the browser location box. Firefox, at least, removes the carriage return and it just works. Occasionally you have to edit a bit like take the "> " out if it was quoted. If you are composing a message with containing a long URL, it is still best to use a shortener to improve the chances the recipient will follow it. It is also best to include the "http://" part of url's so that they will be clickable in all contexts - like mailing list archives.
