About Cohousing-L

Cohousing is housing designed to foster community and cooperation while preserving
independence. About 30 private residences are clustered near shared facilities.
The members design and manage all aspects of their community.

Cohousing-L is a discussion about all aspects of cohousing - development and joys and challenges of living in cohousing. Cohousing-L is independent of but cooperates with The Cohousing Association of the United States (Coho/US). Cohousing-L has about 800 active subscribers and distributes an average of about 150 messages per month. It is conducted by email - a "mailing list" or "listserv". See About mailing lists

Using Cohousing-L
To post a message to all the list members, send email to cohousing-L at cohousing.org

During the first half of 2006, Cohousing-L averaged 50 messages per week (with a range of 10-115). Some people find this overwhelming. Consider digest mode (one message per day) when subscribing or the one message per week summary list, C-L-sum. For more details see Too much Cohousing-L email?

Note that the Coho/US magazine and announcements use a totally separate subscription.

Subscribe to Cohousing-L by filling out the following form. To prevent others from subscribing you without your permission, you will be sent an e-mail message asking you to verify your subscription. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.

    Geo-code: two character country code       plus
    If USA or Canada:/ State or Province code/Zip Code
    Comm-code: Community (or org.) abbrev., if in a group listed in the Coho/US Community List
    If your community is not listed, please take steps to add it (see site).

Unsubscribing, password reminder, options

The main reason people unsubscribe is because the number of messages is more than they can handle. There are a number of ways to read cohousing-L discussion with varying amounts of email (with as little as one brief summary message per week.
