Coho US has two upcoming workshops which will offer a great boost to
groups recruiting new members and planning to work with developers and
builders.  These are intended for a national audience.  Please pass this

Marketing & Membership Development 

Oct 8-9, 2005, Boulder, CO

Cost:  $390  ($450 for registration after Sept 6)

Program:   A panel of professionals will detail proven methods for
building cohousing groups.  Presenters will describe how best to reach
your target audience, work with media, strengthen group ties and build a
highly functioning group.  Discussion will include strategies and
tactics, effective message development, incentives, and best practices
from other projects. Time will also be available for individual
consultation. 

 

Social Gathering:  Pre-event social on Friday evening, Oct 7. 



Who Should Attend:  Members of forming and developing cohousing groups
who are looking to recruit new members or strengthen their existing
group.

*         Zev Paiss  -  Founding Executive Director of the Cohousing
Association of the U.S. , Zev is a principal in Abraham Paiss, a firm
specializing in marketing, media and membership development for
cohousing communities.   

 

*         Neshama Abraham - National media contact for cohousing and
principal of Abraham Paiss, Neshama has garnered major national
publicity for cohousing.  Neshama and Zev Paiss are members of Nomad
Cohousing in Boulder, Colorado. 

 

*         Jim Leach - President of Wonderland Hill Development Co., Jim
has led the development of over a dozen cohousing communities and has
over 30 years experience in residential development.

 

*         Shirley Thielen - Director of Marketing for Wonderland Hill
Development Co., Shirley has 15 years experience in marketing ranging
from start-ups to established entities.

 

*         Ann Zabaldo  -  Has led the professional marketing and
membership for several major cohousing communities in the D.C. area and
is a past president of Coho US.  A local cohousing resident, Ann is also
a regional coordinator for the Mid-Atlantic network of cohousing
communities.

Program:    Presentation will be panel style and will address the unique
challenges, issues and best practices of cohousing development.
Professionals with varying styles and approaches will be presenting.
Time will also be available for individual consultation.

Who Should Attend:  Members of cohousing groups that will be working
with design and development professionals and aspiring cohousing
professionals.

Panelists will include:   

Kathryn McCamant -- Principal for Development of The CoHousing Company.
Kathryn has developed several cohousing communities in northern
California and designed dozens of others around the country. She and her
husband and co-author Charles Durrett introduced cohousing to the United
States with the 1988 book, Cohousing:  A Contemporary Approach to
Housing Ourselves. 

Jim Leach -- President of Wonderland Hill Development Co.  Jim has led
Wonderland's efforts to complete a dozen cohousing communities in the
western United States.  He brings over 30 years of residential
development experience to cohousing. 

Additional presenters to be announced.
