Hi, Muriel,

Our very commercial fridge finally did give up the ghost. Between the
fridge—which we liked a lot— and the restaurant style dishwasher, we have spent
tons of money on repair. More on DW than fridge.

We replaced it with an all refrigerator, and it’s been very useful. It is good
having shelves in the door— didn’t in commercial fridge. We too have a free
standing freezer, so need no freezer. This counts as residential in terms of
repair: whew!!

Shelves have been big enough for the usual needs for meals of 20-30people.

We were a little tempted to find one with a glass door— that would be great,
but pricey. Somex those can be found used, but, probably like you, we really
need reliability.

We did also have hand-me-down residential fridges in our pantry. Right now we
don’t.

oh, and this one is much much much quieter.

Subject: [C-L]_ commercial or residential refrigerator?

We need a new fridge and of course there are two schools of thought here -
get a new, very well insulated commercial fridge to replace our old noisy
but capacious commercial fridge, or buy one or two very large residential
fridges. I searched in the archives; the most recent thread on this topic
that I found is from 2014 and rather brief, and I wonder if anyone has
anything more recent to report.

Our major size constraint is that we often need to be able to put 1 or 2
full-size sheet pans in the fridge and/or one or two giant metal bowls
while prepping for dinner, as our meal attendance is often 45-55 people. We
have a separate under-counter freezer, which is fine for us.

Re commercial fridges, does anyone know of a relatively quiet model that is
also energy efficient? (The unicorn of CH fridges....)

Re residential fridges, I know a number of communities have opted for one
or two of these. If that's what you have, could you please answer these
questions?
-Approximately how many diners do you typically cook dinner for?
-Can you put full-size sheet pans inside?
-What do you like and not like about your fridge(s)?
-Is it inconvenient to have 2 separate fridges, if that's what you have?
-What brand and model is it?
-What year did you get it?

Thank you very much?

PS: I have an intermittent e-mail glitch. If you write and do not hear back
from me shortly, please call me or please re-send. Thank you, Ruth
