Hello,

If you're interested in learning sociocracy, the self-governance and
decision-making method becoming increasingly popular in cohousing, I resources.

It's easier for a forming cohousing group to use sociocracy effectively as
compared to an already-existing community using consensus. But an existing
cohousing community _can_ successfully shift to sociocracy, and Pioneer Valley
Cohousing in Amherst did it years ago.(See the video on youtube, Dynamic
Governance for Intentional Community.) Recently Cambridge Cohousing
successfully shifted to sociocracy after years of using consensus too. In
Coho/US' Aug 29 Cohousing Over Time Conference Jerry Koch-Gonzalez of
Sociocracy for All (SoFA) and Norma Wassel, a member of Cambridge Cohousing,
described how Cambridge Cohousing did it. (I just checked the Coho/US website
to see how to see the recording of this and other workshops, perhaps for a fee,
but I couldn't find a way to do it. I'll check with Coho/US and report back
here. I'd love for people interested in sociocracy to see this presentation!)

Another resource is SoFA's Sociocracy in Communities Conference on November 20
of this year.
https://www.sociocracyforall.org/?s=Communities+Conference&lang=en My
workshop will be, " 'The Four Necessary Conditions' to Use Socicoracy
Effectively in Intentional Communities."

Today, Sept 20, is the deadline for the Early Bird Discount ($225) for my
upcoming 10-Week Online Sociocracy Training, Oct 2-Dec 4 (10-noon Pacific, 1-3
Eastern). The regular price is $245-$445 sliding scale. We teach sociocracy
specifically for cohousing and other kinds of communities, as I know community
dynamics well and the kinds of things that can happen in communities that can
enhance, or thwart!, using sociocracy effectively. The course features videos
and handouts to see ahead of the weekly two-hour live practice sessions, and an
optional Socicoracy Buddies program to talk one-on-one with a different course
participant each week about what people just learned. Two different forming
cohousing groups signed up for the training today, as well as communitarians in
the UK, France, and Russia. It ought to be a lively and fu international group.

Two other Special Discounts are available from now until Oct. 2. The
Five-or-More-People-Discount, $200 per person, is to encourage several people
from the same group to learn sociocracy at the same time — which works
especially well for communities. And the Second Person Discount, $200 per
person, is offered to someone from the same group as a previous participant in
our online course. For more information, diana [at] ic.org.
