Now that the MN350 Divestment Team is launching a Divest Minneapolis Campaign (in addition to its earlier focus on colleges and universities), I'll be joining it at the June 16 meeting. In 1985-86 I was an active member of the MN Anti-Apartheid Coalition working on divestment of South African holdings at the city and state levels, and this is an exciting opportunity to advance climate justice using a proven and effective organizing tool. If as expected the General Assembly passes the Fossil Fuel Divestment Business Resolution, I also hope to organize around divestment at FUS and through the MUUSJA environmental working group. Perhaps we can discuss the issue at the next MUUSJA meeting in July.
