There was a flurry of messages starting with Date: February 13 2007 Subj: sample document library: laying the groundwork Andrew Netherton http://lists.cohousing.org/archives/cohousing-l/msg25420.html (tho it had roots in previous messages...) Find most by searching for "sample document library:" in the archives I wrote to cohousing-L: Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2007 13:58:25 -0800 (PST) From: Fred H Olson <fholson [at] cohousing.org> To: -cohousing-L mailing list <cohousing-l [at] cohousing.org> Subject: http://wiki.cohousing.org created As a step to get things moving I've created a subdomain called http://wiki.cohousing.org Currently there is not a wiki there tho I will be working on installing media wiki. ** Currently there is a default file that describes how I imagine this could work. I also created a files subdirectory and put files I have that have been referenced in cohousing-L messages there. (The ones with links at http://L.cohousing.org currently ) ** I'm studying the install instructions at: http://support.tigertech.net/media-wiki=cohousing.org I think I'm up to installing it but collaboration welcome - see wiki-L below or write me off list. Tho it may have some disadvantages media wiki seems like the "standard" since wikipedia uses it and therefore the best choice (less learning required of collaborators since most probably already use wikipedia some). I think some sort of collaborative approach should be used and I prefer an "all topics about cohousing" related wiki. Since cohousing-L is 'all topics about cohousing' the wiki can be used to organize the list archives in an edited topical fashion. Someone suggested a blog but that is again an essentially linear rather than topically organized media and therefore inappropriate. To relieve cohousing-L of messages related to getting the wiki going I've started a separate discussion listserv - wiki-L [at] cohousing.org I encourage all interested and especially those with expertise to subscribe: http://lists.cohousing.org/mailman/listinfo/wiki-l Fred, listserv manager who is also excited that our son has been accepted to umn.edu PS Tree, I hope my unrestrained enthusiasm has not gotten out of control and prematurely forged ahead but it seemed like the thing to do. The wiki should allow for lots of collaborative efforts. -- Fred H. Olson Minneapolis,MN 55411 USA (near north Mpls) Communications for Justice - My listserv org.
