To: Scott Jackson <sjackzen46 [at] gmail.com> Minneapolis Energy Options <http://www.communitypowermn.org/?e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=1> Scott -- The moment we have been waiting for is now within sight and you have an opportunity to add your voice to the record! The Minneapolis City Council has set a public hearing on both utility franchise agreements <http://www.communitypowermn.org/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.minneapolismn.gov%2Fwww%2Fgroups%2Fpublic%2F%40clerk%2Fdocuments%2Fwebcontent%2Fwcms1p-127847.pdf&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=2&e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email> and the city-utility Partnership <http://www.communitypowermn.org/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.minneapolismn.gov%2Fwww%2Fgroups%2Fpublic%2F%40clerk%2Fdocuments%2Fwebcontent%2Fwcms1p-127862.pdf&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=3&e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email> for *October 6**th *at *1:30 PM* during the regular meeting time of the Health, Environment and Community Engagement committee in the city council chamber at 350 S 5th Street room #317. We invite you to come speak with your own unique perspective. We expect the time allotted to be 3 minutes or 2 minutes per speaker. You can also contact Committee Chair Cam Gordon <http://www.communitypowermn.org/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ci.minneapolis.mn.us%2Fward2%2Findex.htm&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=4&e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email> with questions about submitting a comment if you are unable to attend. Our basic message template is as follows: *1.* It's great to see the City and utilities (Xcel and CenterPoint) coming together to create this first-in-the-nation Clean Energy Partnership. We are hopeful that this will allow the City to meet its ambitious energy and climate goals <http://www.communitypowermn.org/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.minneapolismn.gov%2Fwww%2Fgroups%2Fpublic%2F%40clerk%2Fdocuments%2Fwebcontent%2Fwcms1p-122973.pdf&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=5&e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email> and vision <http://www.communitypowermn.org/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.minneapolismn.gov%2Fwww%2Fgroups%2Fpublic%2F%40citycoordinator%2Fdocuments%2Fwebcontent%2Fwcms1p-113989.pdf&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=6&e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email> . *2.* We support franchise agreements that are as short of length as possible. *3.* The Council should pass the Partnership when it comes to a full vote, and the utilities should sign on. *4.* In order to be effective, the Partnership needs active participation from energy stakeholders and experts who are not connected to the City or the utilities. We support a strong, empowered, and diverse Energy Vision Advisory Committee. *5.* The community will be paying close attention to this Partnership, and holding both the City and the utilities accountable for reaching their stated goals. If it doesn't look like the Partnership is achieving these goals, the community will advocate for exploring other options. I AM HAPPY TO PROVIDE To learn more about why the Partnership is fundamentally important you can read my Twin Cities Daily Planet Article <http://www.communitypowermn.org/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tcdailyplanet.net%2Fnews%2F2014%2F08%2F11%2Fcity-utility-partnership-meet-minneapolis-energy-goals&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=7&e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email> or this fantastic article <http://www.communitypowermn.org/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.renewableenergyworld.com%2Frea%2Fblog%2Fpost%2Fprint%2F2014%2F03%2Fcan-a-novel-city-utility-partnership-green-a-big-city-grid&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=8&e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email> by John Farrell in Renewable Energy World <http://www.communitypowermn.org/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.renewableenergyworld.com%2Frea%2Fblog%2Fpost%2Fprint%2F2014%2F03%2Fcan-a-novel-city-utility-partnership-green-a-big-city-grid&utm_campaign=public_hearing&n=9&e=4cdcb2d594a32728a2f3d13513489fb6&utm_source=minneapolisenergyoptions&utm_medium=email> .
