I apologize - I meant to send this out earlier. I haven't seen the webinar
yet, but I'm confident it contains talking points that will prove useful in
making a public comment at the PUC's Sandpiper hearing on January 5 at 2 pm
at the RiverCentre in St. Paul. If anyone feels inspired to pull together a
list of talking points to share, I encourage you to do so.

I'm also interested in attending the hearings in Duluth on January 6 and in
St. Cloud on January 9, both at 2 pm. If anyone else is interested in
attending either or both of those hearings, I'd be happy to ride shotgun
and pick up a share (or all) of the gas.

If you are, please let everyone know and perhaps we can pull together a
carload or two of merry activists to join Andy, who was planning to take a
road trip to all four outstate hearings (including Bemidji on Wednesday and
Crookston on Thursday) when last I talked to him. I'm sure he'd love some
company as well.

For MUUSJA folks, I've added a description of the hearings and the full St.
Paul location from the MN350 calendar in case you haven't seen it yet.

I look forward to seeing many of you at one or more of the hearings. *A
luta continua, vitoria e' certa* (the struggle continues, victory is
certain).

DescriptionCome join MN350, Honor The Earth, Friends of the Headwaters,
Carlton County Land Stewards, the Sierra Club, and other allies to stand up
against Enbridge pipeline expansion in MN! This is one in a series of five
public hearings to be held along the line. The public WILL be allowed to
testify, so please plan to do so if possible. If you don't want to testify,
please do still come -- our numbers matter. Topics for Public Comment: --Is
the proposed project needed and in the public interest? --What are the
costs and benefits of the proposed project? --What are the environmental
and human impacts of the proposed project and how can these impacts be
addressed? --Do any of the factors listed in Minnesota Rule 7853.0130 have
particular importance in this case?
https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/?id=7853.0130
--Are <https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/?id=7853.0130--Are> there other
project-related issues or concerns? Public hearings start on time. Please
arrive a few minutes early so you have time to sign the hearing roster,
pick up materials, and find a seat. Citizens who wish to speak will be
called from two lists: a list of those who support granting the Certificate
of Need and another list for those who oppose granting the Certificate of
Need. The Judge will alternate between the two lists. Because a large
number of citizens are expected to request an opportunity to speak at these
hearings, the Judge will direct each speaker to be brief.

Last week, PCI and our partners hosted more than 500 activists at
an information-packed online briefing for "Drilling Deeper: A Reality Check
on U.S. Government Forecasts for a Lasting Tight Oil & Shale Gas Boom

."

We had to step in to counter the shale hype. The EIA has an abysmal track
record of shale estimates, and important decisions – like investing
billions in LNG and oil exports – are riding on false expectations of
abundance. Join us and take action now

*RELATED: Fracking America (**new video)** – Visualizing the Virus (Is it
Worth It?)*

In the last ten years over 80,000 tight oil and shale gas wells have been
drilled in the U.S., from Texas to Pennsylvania, North Dakota to Louisiana.
But that pales in comparison to what the U.S. Government expects to see
over the next 25 years. While the benefits are fleeting, the impact of the
fracking frenzy could last generations. *Is it worth it?*
