Victory on Solar Energy

Dear Shannon,

The 2013 Legislature passed solar energy legislation that will spur growth
in Minnesota's solar industry, create good jobs, and make solar energy
cheaper and more accessible to customers.

High Points:

The law creates a Solar Energy Standard that requires select electric
utilities - including Xcel - to get 1.5 percent of electricity from solar by
2020, and establishes a goal of 10 percent solar energy by 2030.

Good start:

While our work is far from over -- we must intensify efforts to increase
Minnesota's Renewable Energy Standard and strengthen the Solar Energy
Standard -- this is a good first step toward Governor Dayton's call for a
clean energy future in Minnesota.

Give thanks where thanks are due:

Thank Governor Dayton, the lead authors of the bill, and legislative leaders
for their leadership on clean energy, and urge them to keep up the fight for
a clean energy future in Minnesota.

Deadline for responding: Please take action by Friday, May 24th.
