Minnesota's Tar Sands Fight right here -- A trip to the Pipeline!

Hello friends,

Over the last few years we have been standing up in opposition to the
Keystone XL pipeline through petitions, pledges, rallies and
arrests. Keystone XL has become a kitchen table conversation that
has raised the public's awareness about the devastating impacts of
tar sands development in Alberta, Canada.

Did you know that in Minnesota we have oil pipelines running through
the northern part of our state that are in the ground and pumping tar
sands oil through the farmland, woods and waterways to the Lake
Superior? They are owned by Enbridge Energy LP, a Canadian oil
distribution company that is already in the process of expanding
their US pipeline system to increase their capacity to transport a
lot more tar sands oil. They are working hard to keep this expansion
out of the scrutiny of the public eye including their current efforts
to increase capacity of the Alberta Clipper (or Line 67) from 450,000
barrels per day to its full capacity of 880,000 barrels per day --
same amount as the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.

This pipeline is in our backyard. No one is going to hold Enbridge
Energy LP accountable to the severe risks to our water, land and
people, if we don't. This is our opportunity to play a significant
role in stopping tar sands development and caring for the place and
people we love . Will you join us?

Come see it for yourself! Join us for a pipeline field trip on June
26 that will include visits to the Clearbrook Tank Farms, exposed
pipeline at Cass Lake and the Red Lake Encampment . Marty Cobenais,
pipeline organizer for the Indigenous Environmental Network, will be
leading the tour. We will see first hand the impacts on local
communities, learn more about the Enbridge expansion and what that
means for those living along the pipeline and downstream.
