Subject: [EcoM] Mining and environmental justice - EPA comments closing in
just 3 days

Dear Eco-minders,

Mining is a major topic here in Minnesota as sulfide mining continues to be
debated and questioned. We have a chance to stand with folks in Alaska who
are facing a major new mine there. Solidarity in asking tough environmental
questions of corporations & the EPA is a small step we can take in promoting
environmental justice!

You can read an op-ed in the NY TImes from Callan Chythlook-Sifsof, a
Yupik/Inupiat Eskimo from the region:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/28/opinion/native-culture-under-threat.html?_
r=0

EPA draft statement here http://www2.epa.gov/bristolbay

And comments can be submitted at
http://www2.epa.gov/bristolbay/current-public-involvement (Note that the
preferred coment method will be unavailable Saturday afternoon and evening!
You can email comments direct to ORD.Docket [at] epa.gov. Include
EPA-HQ-ORD-2013-0189 in the subject line.)

Thank you!
- Ralph
