As you can see, MNIPL's Climate Conversations Campaign has a national connection. I have been advocating that FUS and FUS/CCC become one of ten MN congregations to join the pilot project. The introductory training and organizing meeting will be held the same day, Thursday, February 27, at 6:30-8:30 pm, at 2104 Stevens Ave S. (I've already committed to helping out with the Campaign, even without FUS's participation, so I'll be there early to help set up.) I hope others will have the interest, time, and energy to join me that night. If FUS participated, the goal would be to collect 100 climate conversations between now and September. I couldn't do it alone - I'd need an enthusiastic team to join me. More information can be found at MNIPL's website here: http://mnipl.org/join/climate-conversations.html. Opening up the space to allow climate conversation to occur is an important strategic priority. In other public policy areas, such as the freedom to marry, doing so in a coordinated manner has proven to generate policy wins, as was the case with the Minnesotans United campaign<http://climateaccess.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=4c02cf32dd599593b902c3193&id=b06ac269cb&e=7ccfd58a53> . Using a case study format, a panel of experts, as well as participating Climate Access members, will hear from Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light about the development of a new campaign that uses relational and dialogue-based approaches to motivate congregational members to act on climate change; and will have a chance to provide guidance on campaign design.
