Fwd: Stop the Alberta Clipper on Aug 28 -- Last Local Opportunity

Here's the last opportunity to publicly oppose the upgrade of Line 67
(Alberta Clipper) before the MN Utilities Commission Commission makes its
decision on August 28. The PUC will convene at 9:30 and consider three
other minor matters before turning to the Line 67 upgrade no sooner than
10:30. (It could begin later.)

As you can see, the PUC is allowing limited public comment (no more than
three minutes). Earlier tonight I wrote my comment, which will be much
different than the comment I offered in April (and repeated in an edited
version in Superior in May). MN350 is particularly interested in having
those folks who signed up to testify in April but were unable to do so
register and speak this time around. We won't have the turnout this time
that we had in April, so I encourage everyone who is able to attend to do
so. Thanks.

Hello Friends,

Minnesotans have one final local opportunity to stand in opposition to more
tar sands in MN on Thursday, August 28 in front of the MN Public Utilities
Commission, before they make their final decision regarding Enbridge’s
Alberta Clipper expansion project.

This is even more important now that the State Department released
documents revealing a scheme by Enbridge to bypass the Presidential Permit
process for expansion of its Alberta Clipper tar sands pipeline. Meaning
as soon as the MN Public Utilities Commission gives the green light,
Enbridge can pump 800,000 barrels of dirty tar sands oil through northern
Minnesota. Learn more about Enbridge’s switcheroo scheme here

[image: Aug28TarSands.jpg]So, we are calling on you to be there on August
28. To stand for the health and safety of our neighbors, communities,
land, water and a planet free of perpetuated climate disruption. To stand
for transparency and fair public process. Be there to hold our leaders
accountable -- enough is enough, say yes to a healthy and safe world and no
to tar sands oil.

*What:* Final local hearing regarding the Alberta Clipper, Line 67 tar
sands pipeline
*When:* Thursday, August 28 at beginning at 10:30 am
*Where:* Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, 121 7th Pl E, St. Paul, MN
*RSVP and spread the word* via the Facebook event page

Unexpected opportunity for public comment! Due to the significant number
of people participating in the public process, the MN PUC is allowing
limited public comment prior to their decision. If you are interested and
able to speak, please click here for more information
on how to register by Monday, August 25.

A few more announcements:

On Tuesday, August 26 Minnesota Pets Against Pipelines will be rallying
outside the MN PUC building to raise awareness and make a call to action
   for Thursday’s meeting. Visit MN350.org
for more information. RSVP your pets and people here

We now have tar sands lawn signs! Click here
to buy yours today to send a statement before the PUC meeting and beyond.

Looking forward to standing with you next Thursday, August 28 at the PUC!
