MINNEAPOLIS―Winners from the Latin American Film Festival in Havana will
highlight Minneapolis’ Ninth Annual Cuban Film Festival. Presenting this
intriguing collection of six contemporary Cuban films are the Minnesota
Cuba Committee in partnership with the Film Society of Minneapolis/St Paul
and the ongoing assistance of the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC).

Against the backdrop of the current Administration’s threats to recently
improved US-Cuban relations and loosened travel restrictions for US
citizens, the Cuban Film Festival gives audiences an especially timely
opportunity to view a cross-section of Cuban films. Screenings will take
place at Minneapolis’ St. Anthony Main Theatre complex on historic SE Main
St. on the Mississippi riverfront. All films are in Spanish with English
subtitles.

Scheduled films are *La Cosa Humana* by Gerardo Chijona (March 1); *Vuelos
Prohibidos* by Rigoberto Lopez (March 8); *Esteban* by Jonal Cosculluela
(March 15); *El Techo* by Patricia Ramos (March 22); *Cuba and the
Cameraman* by Jon Alpert (March 29); and *Mi Dicen Cuba* by Pablo Massip
and *Buscando a Chano Pozo* by Rebeca Chavez (April 5). Screenings will
begin at 7:00 p.m. with one showing only.

Guests from Cuba and local scholars in Cuban and Latin-American Studies
will attend general audience discussions after each showing.

Tickets cost $8.00 general admission for each show; $6.00 for students,
seniors and Film Society members and can be bought before showtime. Parking
can be found in the ramp behind the St. Anthony Main Theatre on 2nd Ave. NE
and 2nd St. NE.

The Festival’s underwriters, sponsors and supporters include: Victor’s 1959
