Please. In the distant (?) future this could be disastrous. If you watched
the PBS show on the Florida Everglades and what almost happened to it by
politicians in the early part of the century we know this is the wrong thing to
do. Call now.

> Governor Tim Walz has said he may cancel the state’s lawsuit against the Line
> 3 pipeline.1 We need your help today to make sure that doesn't happen.
>
> As you've probably heard, Line 3 is a proposed tar sands oil pipeline that
> Canadian company Enbridge wants to build across northern Minnesota,
> threatening the Mississippi headwaters, Indigenous treaty territory, and
> dozens of wild rice lakes.
>
> Call 651-201-3400 (the governor’s comment line) and tell Governor Walz that
> the Department of Commerce’s lawsuit against the Line 3 tar sands pipeline
> must be allowed to proceed.
>
> Climate scientists tell us Line 3 would have the climate change impact of 50
> coal power plants. The project received initial approval last June but is
> currently facing a multitude of legal challenges, including one filed late
> last year by the Minnesota Department of Commerce.2
>
> Governor Walz ran for office on a pro-climate-action platform, and Lieutenant
> Governor Peggy Flanagan spoke out against Line 3 as a state legislator. If
> Governor Walz decides to cancel the lawsuit, it would be an anti-science
> decision, forcing the state agency that is tasked with advocating in the
> public interest to fall silent instead of doing its job.
>
> The Governor says he hasn’t decided what he’s going to do yet, making this is
> a clear test of his administration's commitment to facts and climate action.
> Call his office now.
>
> Here are some additional talking points for your call:
>
> The DOC’s appeal is based on state law and sound science.
> If Gov. Walz cares about the facts, he will keep the appeal.
> The rich case record shows that Enbridge did not properly justify Line 3, and
> that the pipeline would harm Minnesotans more than it would help them.
> The Line 3 pipeline situation raises questions that are best answered by the
> courts -- let the appeal play out there.
> The Department of Commerce filed an appeal against the Line 3 pipeline back
> in December, as Gov. Dayton’s term was nearing its end. Its staff of experts
> had examined the record and determined that the proposed pipeline threatens
> our climate and wasn’t justified under Minnesota law. This legal challenge
> means that the state is currently fighting the project in court, standing
> alongside multiple community organizations and Native Nations.
>
> Governor Walz has asked his new Commerce commissioner to "take another look
> at" the lawsuit. Late last week, Walz clarified that he would make the Line 3
> lawsuit decision himself, and has not decided yet.3 We need to make sure that
> he hears loudly, clearly, and from all corners of the state that this appeal
> must continue.
>
> Can you make a call to encourage Gov. Walz to do the right thing and keep the
> DOC appeal against Line 3?
>
> Thanks for being in this fight,

>
> @GovTimWalz, please stand for science and keep the DOC’s lawsuit in place to
> #StopLine3. The facts say this pipeline doesn’t meet state law and is a bad
> deal for Minnesotans. Don’t cover #OneMinnesota in #tarsands. @LtGovFlanagan
