The March 19th gathering is a gathering of the Puget Sound cohousing Tribe. I sent an invite to Lynn Nadeau who I had hoped would get the word out to your group. Ten cohousing groups from Western Washington(assuming they all show up) are going to meet, talk, show and tell and share experiences and information in an informal all day gathering. Lunch is provided, dinner is potluck. Bring 1 copy of documents or plans you are willing to share with others and arrangements will be made for copies for those who want things. Also bring show and tell materials. There will be ample time for informal one on one conversations and hopefully some dancing and games or other group fun stuff as well. In the afternoon we will break up into "seminar groups" which will discuss and share specific issues such as children, commonhouse design, legal structures etc....The specific seminar topics will be brainstormed by the group at the gathering. The Matrix I refer to was something that Puget Ridge used to program their development. The Songaia group modified it, and Sharingwood modified it to apply to our commonhouse planning. Basically our version is a grid set up with these headings across the top: Room, Size, Code issues, Feelings, Functions, Adjacencies, storage, lighting, special needs and then along the side we listed each functional space of the commonhouse: Kitchen Eating/meeting Bathroom Kids place Entry Outside In each of the boxes of the grid we brainstormed all the functions, feelings, adjacencie issues, lighting issues etc. This gave us an organized big picture view of each space and all its elements. We then took the brainstorm list and made a large master list out of it and gave a copy to each member with 20 blue dot stickers. Members then "voted" on which things they felt were most important by putting stickers on them. It was ok to put more than one sticker per item. We tallied up the "dots" and those items on the list which got more than 4 stickers were the priorities for the plans.(mostly) I think my wife sent a sample of all this to Lynn Nadeau so ask her about it.
