About Cohousing-L

Cohousing is housing designed to foster community and cooperation while preserving
independence. About 30 private residences are clustered near shared facilities.
The members design and manage all aspects of their community.

Cohousing-L is a discussion about all aspects of cohousing - development and joys and challenges of living in cohousing. Cohousing-L is independent of but cooperates with The Cohousing Association of the United States (Coho/US). Cohousing-L has about 1100 active subscribers (Oct 2019) and distributed an average of about 80 messages per month in 2019. It is conducted by email - a "mailing list" or "listserv". See About mailing lists

To see the collection of the over 44,000 postings (Oct 2019) since the list started in 1993 visit, Cohousing-L Messages (archives). The Index Pages are by default chronological with most recent on top. Unfortunately getting to an Index Page of a given time in the last 26 years is awkward, the Date Index helps.

Searching the archives.
Each index page of the archives has a form at the top to enter a search string. There is a
link to Search Tips at the bottom of every search results page.

Using Cohousing-L
To post a message to all the list members, send email to cohousing-L at cohousing.org
Note that Cohousing-L is a public list and the archives are public and searchable; consider this when composing posts.

Sometimes Cohousing-L discussions result in a lot of email (to see how much, browse the archives - link above). Some people find this overwhelming and prefer digest mode -- one message per day that sends all of the day's messages in one email. But digest mode complicates replying to messages. Choose your preference when you subscribe below. Over half of subscribers are in digest mode. The one message per week summary list is defunct.

To subscribe to the Cohousing-L discussion, change your existing subscription, or get your password (needed to make changes) emailed to you, see the sections below.
