One thing that my wife has pointed out to me and that I want to throw out for the group's consideration: Pot lucks, while fine in their own right, do require every household participating to get some kind of food together. Common meals, on the other hand, only require participation once in a while. Since this is one of the chief practical advantages of cohousing, shouldn't we start a "dinner club" where households take turns making a complete dinner for each other, to illustrate the advantages? As long as it's only for 2 or 3 families, it would be doable. If the club caught on and grew too large for individual homes, the need for some kind of common house space would be clear to all participants, as would the advantages of same. Just a thought. Haven't tried this yet. Bruce Koller Old Oakland Cohousing Group bkoller [at] dvc.edu
