As we programmed our shop space we came up with some stuff which might not 
be obvious:

Ventilation:  Plan for dust removal from tools such as sanders 
Overhead compressed air piping for easy air tool use
Lighting - side wall adjustable lights in addition to overhead lighting
Outdoor covered storage by extending roof line over concrete flooring.
