If any readers of this list will oblige me with some information--Cantine's Isl
and cohousing of Saugerties, New York, is trying to develop policies about a wa
iting list for persons not included in the group of full members whose houses w
ill be constructed first. (Construction should begin in 1996.) Also, we'd like
to know the experience of other groups with 'near neighbors'--persons who live
close tot he cohousing group but not in it, and who participate to greater or l
esser extent inthe group's activities, thus incurring some expense on the group
's part. Or anyway that's what we wonder about. It grows out of the way our clu
ster of houses sits not far from other people's houses, some of whom should be
in this near neighbor category. If you can tell us your experience with either
waiting lists or near neighbors, please be good enough to email me, either off
or on the list as yousee fit. Thanks, Lee Haring.
