The stuff we have used is called 5/8's minus, its crushed rock mixed with sand. The number part refers to the size of screen they run it through. Up here is costs about $350 for a large dumptruck of the stuff. Makes a solid path or road edge, packs well into dirt. One aspect which makes it good for parking areas is that is makes noise when cars are on it. This makes a safer parking area as the kids learn that the noise means a car is coming and you can sound locate pretty well. That backing car you didn't know was going to move gives you about 2 seconds of warning before it runs you over. Most the time, this is all you need. On asphalt you don't get that same warning. Yeah, Yeah, kids shouldn't be playing in the parking lot anyway....but if it suits their game, they will and do. You can tell em and tell em but they still will. But that's another topic ......
