I think that was understood by everyone commenting. I was responding to the spirit of sharing which in formal income sharing is institutionalized, vs personal sharing which is not. I've been in many situations where people were sharing based on "needs" and found all of them to be impossible. People's perceptions of their own "needs" varies widely. Some are impossibly self-sacrificing and others convinced that they will die without a new toothbrush every day.
